Proposed Capital Project
Dear School Community Member,
On Tuesday, May 16, 2017, the Fallsburg Central School District will ask voters to decide on a $15.9 million capital improvement project that addresses energy efficiency as well as health and safety renovations district-wide.
At the Junior-Senior high school and the Elementary school there will be security upgrades which will include entrance vestibules. There will be bathroom renovations and exterior site improvements including the outdoor track and the practice fields. The HVAC upgrades will continue our quest to improve student comfort and thermal efficiency.
At the Junior-Senior high school the gymnasium floor, bleachers, and windows will be replaced. The pool renovation, a centerpiece of this capital project, will include the replacement of a new tiled deck, a new pool liner and plumbing upgrades.
Ultimately, the will of the people will determine how this project moves forward and how we address our facility issues.
On behalf of the Fallsburg Central School District Board of Education, I thank you for taking the time to watch the building project video below. We look forward to hearing from you as we approach the May 16th vote. Thank you.

Jessica, Heather and Shari Benjamin Cosor School Awarded Anti-Bullying Grant
Fallsburg’s Benjamin Cosor Elementary School (BCES) Olweus Committee, focused on Anti-Bullying, applied for and received $1,500 in grant monies through Safe Fleet's United Against Bullying Grant program. The grant helps to fund anti-bullying education and awareness programs. The Committee plans to organize a color run in October 2017 during National Bullying Awareness Month, entitled, "Color our Community with Kindness." Fifth grade teacher Mrs. Shari Mednick suggested that BCES apply for the grant and then worked on the successful application with colleagues Ms. Jessica Bradley and Ms. Heather Mady, who are Co-Coordinators of Positive Behavior Intervention Services Program/Olweus in the school.
Robotics Team Fallsburg Finishes Strong in the VEX Robotics World Championship
The Fallsburg Jr. High Robotics team represented New York State middle school teams at the VEX Robotics World Championships April 19-23 in Louisville KY. The event features the top 3% of all teams worldwide from 15 different countries. In total, there were 180 middle school teams.

The team had a rough start losing their first three matches. However the team got to work and solved the electrical and mechanical issues that were plaguing their bot. This included completely rebuilding their robots chassis (base and drivetrain), that was accidentally destroyed during the first day of competition. Their record at the end of qualifiers was 4 wins and 6 losses, and the team finished 52nd in their division of 80 teams.

The competition ends each year with the reveal of the challenge for the next year. The students are all hoping to build on their success this year, and have an even better season next year.
