Recycling in Fallsburg School

Want to know what we're doing?

Hi, my name is Melissa and my friend Stefanie and I are trying to start a recycling program at Fallsburg Central Jr./Sr. High School. It would be a great thing in our school and we would save 17 trees for every ton of paper we recycled! THINK OF ALL THE AIR WE'D BE SAVING TOO! If you have any suggestions just send us an e-mail at: recycle@fallsburgcsd.net

Why Recycle?

  • You're saving the planet!
  • For every ton of paper you recycle you save 17 trees!
  • 460 gallons of oil are conserved
  • 8 cubic feet of landfill space are saved
  • Air emissions are decreased by 95 percent

How can you help?

  • Double sided copies should be made
    • When things aren't that important and you will just end up throwing them away use the other side, you could print on the other side or use it to write down phone messages.
  • When printing something only print what you need
    • Is it really necessary to print out a whole web page? I don't think so! You could just copy and paste what you need onto a Word Document.
  • Drop off your papers in the recycle box in rooms:
  • When buying school supplies buy recycled paper, if the paper was once recycled it says it on the package.

How teachers can help!

  • SPREAD THE WORD! ENCOURAGE STUDENTS TO USE THE RECYCLING PROGRAM!
  • When you print out tests only print out about 30 copies, hand them out and collect them and reuse them for the next class, just hand out answer sheets.
  • If you have a printer in your room and no recycle box let us know, or tell us to pick up your paper if it will be an inconvenience to have the box in your room.
  • Laminate your passes! If you laminate about four passes and then buy a dry erase marker you could use the same four passes OVER and OVER again!
