  • Student-athletes must report all injuries to the team coach immediately, even if medical attention is not required.
    Student-athletes must notify the coach if they plan on going to a doctor.
  • The coach must file an accident report with the nurse promptly after an accident.
  • The procedure for coaches to follow in the event of an accident at home or away athletic event or practice:
    • Administer first aid
    • Contact rescue squad for ambulance, if necessary.
    • Contact parents
    • Coaches must carry emergency information on each of the players.
  • Coaches are trained in First Aid and CPR. They are instructed to use their best judgment in handling emergency situations.
  • If a student-athlete is to be transported to a hospital, they will be accompanied by a coach or a responsible adult (in the absence of a parent). This person will remain with the student-athlete until the parent(s) arrive, or treatment has begun.
  • Under no circumstances will the remainder of the team be left unsupervised. If it is necessary to leave the students under the supervision of a bus driver, there will be no game or practice action.
  • The bus driver will merely supervise the group.
  • If a doctor has removed an athlete from physical activity, the school nurse and or the school doctor are required to re-examine them to return to participation.
