Academic Intervention Services (AIS) and Response to Intervention (RtI)

Fallsburg Central School District closely monitors the progress of all of its students, to ensure their growth towards meaningful outcomes that will result in successes after graduating from high school.

Administrators, coaches, student services staff, and teachers, monitor student growth through a number of assessments and instructional strategies.  Students who do not meet the thresholds established by the New York State Education Department and Fallsburg CSD will be scheduled in academic intervention services (AIS).

"MAP" represents NWEA's Measures of Academic Progress (MAP).  Should students fall below the Test 1 cut score, but meet the Test 2 cut score (on NWEA's MAP assessments), they will be considered for Tier I intervention services.  These are, generally, conducted through differentiated and scaffolded support by the core content teacher.  If a student scores below both thresholds (in Test 1 and Test 2), he/she will receive Tier 2 or Tier 3 AIS.  These include AIS classes with parallel support; core program interventions; Fast ForWord; and other services.

Should you have any questions regarding AIS or the performance of your child, please contact your school's principal or your child's guidance counselor.
