update imageDear Parent/Guardian:

This morning, 3/16/21, The District received confirmation from the Sullivan County Department of Health that a JSHS student who attended an after school activity yesterday (3/15/21), tested positive for COVID-19 on 3/15/21. The school district continues to be in direct and ongoing contact with the Department of Health and we are currently gathering contact tracing information along with them on this case.

The student in question may have had direct contact with students yesterday and on the days leading up to their positive COVID-19 test. The contact tracing efforts being conducted will determine the level of exposures. Our school nurses will be directly contacting students and staff who may have been exposed and will share that information with Sullivan County Public Health.

As a result of the student who tested positive and the potential exposures that have yet to be determined, The Fallsburg Central School District will be on remote instruction starting tomorrow (March 17, 2021) until after the spring break. We will return to the hybrid model on April 6, 2021.

As always, the health and safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. We will continue working with Public Health to determine whether or not we need to take further precautionary measures.

I will update you as necessary.

Thank you.

Sincerely yours,

Ivan J. Katz, Ed.D.

Superintendent of Schools

Gracias.

Sinceramente,

Ivan J. Katz, Ed.D.
