Dear Parent/Guardian:

I would like to update you on the Governor's March 27th Executive Order and how that relates to the plans we've made.

Governor Andrew Cuomo, on March 27th, announced that he will extend the statewide closure of schools until April 15 (i.e., schools would be open on the 15th). FCSD plans to reopen, if there is no closure extension, on April 16th.

During this closure, districts are required to continue their plans for continuity of instruction, school meals, and child care. Fallsburg's plans include the continuity of instruction, school meals and child care.

The Governor's newest Executive Order (March 27th) says,

"The directive contained in Executive Order 202.4 related to the closure of schools statewide shall hereafter be modified to provide that all schools shall remain closed until April 15, 2020, at which time the continued closure shall be re-evaluated...School districts must continue plans for alternative instructional options, distribution and availability of meals, and child care, with an emphasis on serving children of essential workers, and continue to first use any vacation or snow days remaining."

What this means for FCSD is that we must use our remaining snow and vacation days during this closure. Our current plans include using our remaining snow and vacation days.

The schedule that I previously shared with you still stands:

April 1st: Superintendent's Conference Day (School Closed)

April 2nd: Superintendent's Conference Day (School Closed)

April 3rd - April 15th: Home instruction begins (School Closed)

April 16th - School reopens unless otherwise directed by local or state officials. Our remaining snow and vacation days allow us to stay closed through April 15th and to re-open on April 16th.

I will continue to update you as new information comes in. Please stay safe, healthy and positive.

Estimado padre / tutor:
