On October 6, 2025, The Sullivan County School Boards Association honored two members of the Fallsburg Central School District community, Mr. Peter Dworetsky and Dr. Robert DuFour, for their tireless commitment to education. Mr. Dworetsky, the district’s math Content Area Coordinator, was named the recipient of the Outstanding Educator Award. Dr. DuFour, who is the current superintendent of Sullivan BOCES, was awarded the Outstanding Friend of the District Award.
Throughout his 24-year career at Fallsburg, Mr. Dworetsky served as a substitute teacher, elementary math teacher, and instructional coach. He has been described by colleagues as a true educational advocate who will do whatever it takes to ensure that students can succeed, regardless of the challenges ahead. He is credited for founding the before-school program Buddies, which provides social and emotional well-being programs for students. He also serves as the advisor for Benjamin Cosor Elementary School’s Student Government Association and has kickstarted various charitable projects with students for the school community.
“He is always available to lend support or guidance to anyone who needs it and has a kind, friendly approach making him a go-to person for students and staff alike,” said Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Ivan Katz. “The students of Fallsburg continue to benefit from the efforts, creativity and dedication put forward by Peter Dworetsky and the opportunities he makes sure that they have.”
As superintendent of Sullivan BOCES, Dr. Robert Dufour is truly the wind beneath our collective wings as he works behind the scenes to get our school districts necessary information, at all levels. Additionally, he provides us the guidance we need to resolve multifarious issues as quickly as humanly possible. Whether it is at night, weekends, holidays or even when he’s on vacation, Dr. Dufour responds to questions and concerns at the blink of an eye because he understands the ongoing needs that school districts have in terms of timeliness.
“I am proud to have the honor of working with Dr. Dufour and I believe that the schools of Sullivan County have benefited because of Bob’s above and beyond leadership,” said Dr. Katz. “Fallsburg has been most fortunate to have Dr. Robert Dufour as our friend in education because he absolutely embodies what it means to be that kind of friend.”
Fallsburg proudly celebrates Mr. Peter Dworetsky and Dr. Robert Dufour!
