COVID-19 Update  9/25/21

Dear Parent/Guardian:

Early this afternoon, we were informed that one staff member at BCES tested positive for COVID-19.  As a result, 21 students have been identified as primary exposures. All of those identified as primary exposures will be quarantined and all have been contacted at this time. If you have not been contacted, your child does not need to quarantine. An additional staff member was symptomatic and will be tested before returning.

Necessary precautions and disinfection protocols have been put in place along with any other required actions. BCES will remain open for all other students. The Junior-Senior High School is not affected and will remain open.

We will continue working with Public Health and our school nurses and we will continue to update you when and if necessary.

Please see the important message below from Nancy McGraw from the Sullivan County Department of Health which provides vital resources and information for our school community.

Thank you to everyone for working with us during these challenging times.  The health, safety and welfare of our students and staff remains our top priority. Thank you for the part you continue to play in the school community!

Sincerely yours,

Dr. Ivan Katz

From the Sullivan County Department of Public Health:

Current CDC guidance states that being fully vaccinated for COVID-19 ensures that our staff and students remain safe, and can help avoid quarantine if you are exposed to someone who tests positive as long as you remain asymptomatic and have consistently worn a mask.
