On May 27, 2025, two Benjamin Cosor Elementary School students, Rebecca Malespin Argueta, Jayden Padgett, and four Fallsburg Junior-Senior High School students, Angel Cadena Romero, Maiya Davis, Ruth Mahnken, and Aileen Rodriguez, were named recipients of the Al Rasnick Do the Right Thing Award.
The purpose of the award is to celebrate students who were caught doing a good deed or helping others in need—not solely for recognition or praise, but out of genuine humility and kindness toward their peers and staff. Each of these students has demonstrated what it means to be a strong role model and positive influence in the school community.
The award has been a cherished tradition since 2004, when then-School Resource Officer, Ed Liotard, brought the idea to the district after learning about the Miami Police Department’s version of the Do the Right Thing Award. Since its inception, the award has received ongoing financial support from Town of Fallsburg Judge, Bart Rasnick, and the Fallsburg Police Department.
The Fallsburg Central School District wishes to congratulate the recipients and is beyond proud of them for exemplifying integrity, compassion and leadership.
El 27 de mayo de 2025, dos estudiantes de la Escuela Primaria Benjamin Cosor, Rebecca Malespin Argueta y Jayden Padgett, y cuatro estudiantes de la Escuela Secundaria Fallsburg Junior-Senior High School, Angel Cadena Romero, Maiya Davis, Ruth Mahnken y Aileen RodrÃguez, recibieron el Premio Al Rasnick "Haz lo Correcto".
El propósito del premio es reconocer a los estudiantes que fueron sorprendidos realizando una buena acción o ayudando a otros necesitados, no solo por reconocimiento o elogio, sino por genuina humildad y amabilidad hacia sus compañeros y el personal. Cada uno de estos estudiantes ha demostrado lo que significa ser un modelo a seguir sólido y una influencia positiva en la comunidad escolar.
El premio ha sido una preciada tradición desde 2004, cuando el entonces oficial de recursos escolares, Ed Liotard, presentó la idea al distrito tras conocer la versión del Premio "Haz lo Correcto" del Departamento de PolicÃa de Miami. Desde su creación, el premio ha recibido apoyo financiero continuo del juez de la ciudad de Fallsburg, Bart Rasnick, y del Departamento de PolicÃa de Fallsburg.
El Distrito Escolar Central de Fallsburg felicita a los galardonados y se siente sumamente orgulloso de ellos por su ejemplo de integridad, compasión y liderazgo.
