On October 29, 2025, the Mid-Hudson School Study Council presented Fallsburg CSD Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Sally Sharkey, with the Award for Excellence in Administration.

Dr. Sharkey first joined the Fallsburg community in 2020, and has since demonstrated an unparalleled commitment to education. She played a pivotal role in reshaping the district’s budgeting process, staff development and training programs, and human resource initiatives.

Above all, she helps oversee the school’s 21^st Century Community Learning Centers program, which is a grant-funded afterschool program that provides youth development opportunities and academic enrichment.

Dr. Ivan Katz, Superintendent of Schools, said, "Dr. Sharkey, is the embodiment of excellence in administration for many reasons. Her love for kids and improving instruction is her life force as is her mastery of hospitality. This combination makes for excellence at every level."
