BCES Staff Member and Community Partner Honored by Mid-Hudson School Study Council

On May 6, 2026, the Mid-Hudson School Study Council honored Fallsburg CSD staff member, Rosa Hoffman, and community partner, Sullivan 180. Ms. Hoffman received the Award for Teaching Excellence and Sullivan 180 was the recipient of the Award for Community Service.
Not only does Ms. Hoffman, a bilingual kindergarten teacher at Benjamin Cosor Elementary, dedicate significant time to setting own her students up for success, she also commits to serving her school community to the fullest. For the past several years, she held classes for families that seek guidance on essential skills and navigating challenging times. As a way to reduce the language barrier, she has served as a liaison between the school and community.
Many of her colleagues admire Ms. Hoffman’s exceptional devotion to improving her students’ and their family’s lives. She has truly embodied the Fallsburg school community spirit.
Sullivan 180 has remained a key partner to the Fallsburg school community for many years. They have been an active member of the district’s wellness committee, a vocal supporter of many of the district’s initiatives, and have awarded the district with numerous grants that have gone a long way in improving students’ health and well-being. They were essential in introducing the walking classroom, celebration cart, and outdoor classroom spaces to Benjamin Cosor Elementary. Their tireless work has nurtured an environment devoted to health, fitness, and community engagement.
“The Fallsburg Central School District is exceptionally proud of Rosa Hoffman our Teacher of Excellence and Sullivan 180 our Community Service recipient,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Ivan Katz. “Both Ms. Hoffman and Sullivan 180 proudly represent and serve our school community in different ways but are both considered Fallsburg treasures. We are both lucky and proud to have them making a positive difference in our school community. I would also like to thank the Mid-Hudson School Study Council for their annual recognition of school district heroes.”
