Notice of Meeting:
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the regular meeting of the Board of Education of the Fallsburg Central School District, Sullivan and Ulster Counties, New York, will be held on August 27, 2026 in the Board Room at Fallsburg Jr./Sr. High School, 115 Brickman Road, Fallsburg, New York beginning at 6:15pm. At that time, it is anticipated that the board will enter executive session. Public session will resume at 7:00pm.

Board Trustee Vacancy

The Fallsburg Central School District Board of Education is accepting letters of interest and resumes for the vacancy on the Board of Education created by the resignation of Wasima Shahid.  This term of office will expire on June 30, 2028.

Letters of interest and resumes must be submitted by August 28, 2026; interviews will be conducted at a special meeting of the Board of Education on September 23, 2026. Depending on the number of candidates who express interest in being appointed to the position, the Board may select up to two candidates to be interviewed by the Board in public session prior to the Board voting to select the successful candidate.

    • Lead and govern the district through policy.
    • Hire and annually evaluate the superintendent's performance.
    • Annually adopt a fiscally responsible budget.
    • Approve and provide for the academic program.
    • Promote achievement and opportunities for students.
    • Oversee financial operations and transactions of the district.
    • Set goals and plan for the district's future.
    • Establish and maintain effective community engagement.
    • Approve contracts and ratify collective bargaining agreements.
    • Make decisions on personnel matters and recommendations.
    • Ensure facilities are insured and maintained.
    • Advocate on behalf of the community at the local, state, and federal level.
    • Promote and support efforts to improve student achievement to strengthen college and career readiness.
    • Systems and Organizations
      • Support achievement of the SMART goals listed in the current District Comprehensive Improvement Plan (DCIP).
    • Curriculum 
      • Support curricular improvement efforts listed in the DCIP.
    • Instruction
      • Support reduction efforts in the overall number of course failures in grades 7–12.
    • Social-Emotional Learning
      • Provide social emotional support to students due to the impact of the pandemic and support district-wide efforts to reduce the number of "significantly disruptive" disciplinary referrals in grades K-12.
    • Parent and Community Engagement
      • Support efforts to increase parent and community engagement.
