Important NoticeDear Parent/Guardian:

This afternoon at the Junior-Senior High School, two students reported that a third student had made a general threat against the school. An investigation by the junior-senior high school administration and our school resource officer indicated that the threat was not credible. The student who made the threat will face discipline per the Code of Conduct.

The reason I’m sharing this information with you is because I am aware of how the rumor mill can work and how a story can be passed around and cause unnecessary alarm. That said, we are always concerned about the behavior of students especially when it comes to things like making threats, regardless of whether they are credible, not credible, real or made in jest.  We take each threat very seriously and we investigate accordingly. I am thankful that we have an administrative team that works with our School Resource Officers to investigate threats and to resolve them as quickly as possible.

I am also thankful that we have students who know the value and importance of saying something when they hear or see something.   This level of reporting takes courage and I’m proud of our students when they make reports on things that are of concern to them.  This level of teamwork keeps us all safe and informed.

Esta tarde, en la escuela secundaria, dos estudiantes informaron que un tercero había lanzado una amenaza general contra la escuela. Una investigación realizada por la administración de la escuela y nuestro oficial de recursos escolares indicó que la amenaza no era creíble. El estudiante que realizó la amenaza enfrentará medidas disciplinarias según el Código de Conducta.

Comparto esta información con ustedes porque sé cómo funcionan los rumores y cómo una historia puede circular y causar una alarma innecesaria. Dicho esto, siempre nos preocupa el comportamiento de los estudiantes, especialmente cuando se trata de amenazas, ya sean creíbles, falsas, reales o en broma. Nos tomamos cada amenaza muy en serio e investigamos como corresponde. Agradezco que contemos con un equipo administrativo que colabora con nuestros oficiales de recursos escolares para investigar las amenazas y resolverlas lo antes posible.

También agradezco que nuestros estudiantes conozcan el valor y la importancia de decir algo cuando escuchan o ven algo. Este nivel de denuncia requiere valentía y me enorgullece que nuestros estudiantes informen sobre asuntos que les preocupan. Este nivel de trabajo en equipo nos mantiene a todos seguros e informados.
