Important NoticeDear Parent/Guardian:

This afternoon at the Junior-Senior High School a general threat against the school was reported to the school administration by a student. The threat was made earlier in the week but was first reported today. An investigation by the junior-senior high school administration and our School Resource Officer indicated that the threat was not credible. The student who made the threat will face discipline per the Code of Conduct.

The reason I’m sharing this information with you is because I am aware that this threat was shared with other students and the rumor mill can push forward information and cause unnecessary alarm. We continue to be concerned about the behavior of students especially when it comes to things like making threats, regardless of whether they are credible, not credible, real or made in jest.  We continue to take each threat very seriously and we investigate accordingly.  Students who violate the Code of Conduct by making threats, even when they’re not credible, face severe consequences at many levels.

I continue to be thankful that we have students who know the value and importance of saying something when they hear or see something.   This level of reporting takes courage and I’m proud of our students when they make reports on things that are of concern to them.  This level of teamwork keeps us all safe and informed.

Esta tarde, en la escuela secundaria, un estudiante informó a la administración escolar sobre una amenaza general contra la institución. La amenaza se hizo a principios de semana, pero se informó por primera vez hoy. Una investigación realizada por la administración de la escuela secundaria y nuestro oficial de seguridad escolar indicó que la amenaza no era creíble. El estudiante que hizo la amenaza enfrentará medidas disciplinarias de acuerdo con el Código de Conducta.

Les comparto esta información porque sé que esta amenaza se compartió con otros estudiantes y los rumores pueden difundir información y causar alarma innecesaria. Nos preocupa el comportamiento de los estudiantes, especialmente en lo que respecta a amenazas, independientemente de si son creíbles o no, reales o hechas en broma. Seguimos tomando cada amenaza muy en serio y la investigamos debidamente. Los estudiantes que violan el Código de Conducta al hacer amenazas, incluso si no son creíbles, enfrentan consecuencias graves en muchos niveles.

Agradezco que tengamos estudiantes que comprenden el valor y la importancia de informar cuando escuchan o ven algo. Este tipo de reporte requiere valentía y me enorgullece que nuestros estudiantes informen sobre asuntos que les preocupan. Este trabajo en equipo nos mantiene a todos seguros e informados.
