Dear Parent/Guardian:
This morning it was reported that a student at the Junior-Senior High School made an indirect threat against the school via social media. The indirect threat was posted on social media last night and was reported to the school administration by students today. An investigation by the junior-senior high school administration and our School Resource Officer indicated that the indirect threat was not credible. The student who made the indirect threat will face discipline per the Code of Conduct.
The reason I’m sharing this information with you is because this indirect threat was shared on social media and was concerning to the students who heard it as well as those that heard about it.
We continue to be concerned about the behavior of students especially when it comes to things like making threats, regardless of whether they are indirect, direct, credible, not credible, or made in jest. We take all threats very seriously and we investigate them accordingly. Students who violate the Code of Conduct by making threats, even when they’re not credible, face severe consequences at many levels.
I continue to be thankful that we have students who know the value and importance of saying something when they hear or see something. The school district continues to be proud of our students when they make reports on things that are of concern to them.

Esta mañana se informó que un estudiante de la escuela secundaria hizo una amenaza indirecta contra la escuela a través de las redes sociales. La amenaza se publicó anoche en redes sociales y hoy los estudiantes la reportaron a la administración escolar. Una investigación realizada por la administración y nuestro Oficial de Recursos Escolares indicó que la amenaza no era creÃble. El estudiante que realizó la amenaza enfrentará medidas disciplinarias según el Código de Conducta.
La razón por la que comparto esta información con ustedes es porque esta amenaza indirecta se compartió en las redes sociales y preocupó a los estudiantes que la escucharon, asà como a aquellos que se enteraron de ella.
Seguimos preocupados por el comportamiento de los estudiantes, especialmente cuando se trata de amenazas, ya sean indirectas, directas, creÃbles, no creÃbles o en broma. Nos tomamos todas las amenazas muy en serio y las investigamos como corresponde. Los estudiantes que violan el Código de Conducta al hacer amenazas, incluso si no son creÃbles, enfrentan graves consecuencias a diversos niveles.
Sigo agradecido de que tengamos estudiantes que comprenden el valor y la importancia de decir algo cuando escuchan o ven algo. El distrito escolar sigue estando orgulloso de nuestros estudiantes cuando informan sobre asuntos que les preocupan.
