Photo of Dr. KatzDear School Community Member:

This morning (1/12/21), I received confirmation from the Sullivan County Department of Health that a BCES student who attended school yesterday tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday evening. The student attended school yesterday (1/11/21). The school district continues to be in direct and ongoing contact with the Department of Health and we are currently gathering contact tracing information along with them on this newest case.

The student in question may have had direct contact with staff and students yesterday. The contact tracing efforts being conducted will determine the level of exposures. Our BCES school nurse will be directly contacting students and staff who may have been exposed and will share that information with Sullivan County Public Health.

As a result of the staff members and student who have tested positive over the past few days and the potential exposures, The Fallsburg Central School District will be on remote instruction effective Tuesday, January 12, 2021, through Wednesday, January 20, 2021.

The hybrid model will resume on Thursday, January 21, 2021. As always, the health and safety of our students and staff remains our top priority.

I do apologize for any difficulty this extended remote learning period may cause. We will use this time to clean and disinfect all affected areas of our buildings.

Thank you.

Sincerely yours,
Dr. Katz

Gracias.

Sinceramente,
Dr. Katz
