Dear Parent/Guardian:
This afternoon we received information that a student at BCES tested positive for COVID-19 and will be required to quarantine. 17 additional students are considered primary exposures and will also be required to quarantine. All students/families impacted have been contacted at this time. Both buildings will remain open.
Anytime students are quarantined, they will participate in their full class schedules remotely during the quarantine period. Quarantined students are expected to be fully engaged and attendance counts for them the same as it would if they were in the school building. Please be sure to check your messages frequently for any important updates from the school district.
Please note: All quarantines require a quarantine release prior to students or staff returning to school. Anyone identified as a primary exposure by the school nurse should receive a quarantine order from the Sullivan County Department of Public Health within 48 hours (Sullivan County Public Health Services COVID-19 Information Line: 845-513-2268).
If you were identified as a primary exposure and have not been contacted by Public Health, you should contact them directly to be in their system to receive a quarantine release. If you do not receive a release prior to your scheduled return date, please be sure to request one from Public Health. This will help avoid any delays in returning to school
Cleaning protocols continue to be in place. Student, staff, and visitor safety continues to be our number one priority and we would like to thank you for working with us during these challenging times!
For Covid-19 information and resources, please see the message below from Nancy McGraw, director of the Sullivan County Department of Health.

From Nancy McGraw and the Sullivan County Department of Public Health:
Current CDC guidance states that being fully vaccinated for COVID-19 ensures that our staff and students remain safe, and can help avoid quarantine if you are exposed to someone who tests positive as long as you remain asymptomatic and have consistently worn a mask.
