The children of the Fallsburg Central School District begin their educational journey at Benjamin Cosor Elementary School. At B.C.E.S., approximately 770 students, ranging from our 4-year olds in the pre-K program, to our 12-year old 6th graders, attend school from 9:00 AM until 3:45 PM. During the academic day, students are guided by a dedicated, caring faculty and staff that has, as its primary concern, the needs of the students.
The faculty and staff strive to create a learning environment that is tailored to the individual student's needs. Teachers, and our reading and mathematics coaches, examine the results of a student's NWEA test scores, and, along with the teacher's observations, use them to place the student in the A.I.S. (Academic Intervention Services) group best tailored for his or her needs.
In addition, Benjamin Cosor Elementary School offers a number of before and after-school activities to meet all needs. In the morning, students can get help in mathematics or language arts. Those students who are interested in music can attend band or chorus practice. Students can also attend the Kid's Club before-school program.
Benjamin Cosor Elementary School also offers a variety of after-school activities. Students can get help with their homework in the Extended Day Program. They can participate in the Kids' Club after-school program. Many students also participate in the Student Government Association (SGA), as well as the Ecology Club, Junior Problem Solvers, K-Kids, and the student newspaper.
Please feel free to call the school at any time that you feel that you need assistance, and do not hesitate to call and/or meet with your child's teachers to insure his or her success. Together, we can help all of our students be successful!
